Coffee never goes out of style. Whether we prefer brewing it in our kitchen or heading to a nearby coffee shop, many of us simply can’t go a day without a piping hot cup of coffee. For more than a century, this coffee house near Pittsburgh has been pouring some of the best coffee around. If you love chocolate paired with your coffee, you’re in for an even bigger treat.

Cummings Candy and Coffee House has been a favorite spot for coffee and chocolate lovers in downtown Butler since it opened its doors for the first time in 1905.

The family-owned and run business, in fact, has earned distinction as the “oldest family run business in Butler.” In addition to its original downtown location, the coffee house also has locations on Evans City Road, Pittsburgh Road, and in Butler Hospital.

However, one of those shops, Brother Andre's Cafe in Pittsburgh, offers an inspirational story to go along with that piping hot cup of coffee. Chances are pretty high that once you visit and take a sip, you'll return again and again.

Tucked in the bright and airy basement of Saint Mary of Mercy Church in Pittsburgh, Brother Andre's Cafe serves a delicious cup of coffee and scrumptious baked goods.

However, it also dishes up an inspirational story that's sure to provide encouragement for anyone who's ever faced what seemed like an insurmountable challenge.

Started by Patrick Fitzgerald and his parents, Mike and Terry, the coffee shop was born of Patrick's difficulty finding a job. Despite earning a degree at a community college, Patrick had little success finding a job due to his living with autism.

Instead of letting it get him down, he and his parents started Brother Andre's Cafe, named for Saint André Bessette, in partnership with Father Chris Donley of Move a Mountain Missions.
