Do you love steak? Really, really love steak? If so, you might want to head to Sayler's Old Country Kitchen in Portland, where they'll serve you a 72-ounce steak...and if you can finish it within an hour, it's free!
Brothers Art and Dick Sayler came to Oregon in 1946, and bought a little restaurant called Country Kitchen. Over the years, they turned it into an incredible steakhouse in Portland. Today, the third generation of the Sayler family manages this little gem.
You'll find Sayler's Old Country kitchen at 10519 SE Stark St., Portland, OR 97216. It's the perfect place for steak-lovers.
Start with a pre-dinner cocktail and appetizer in the cozy lounge.
The dining room has plenty of seating to accommodate even large parties, and it's warm and comfortable.
Hopefully, you've arrived hungry. This restaurant offers a 72-ounce steak. It's absolutely massive, but if you can eat it all in sixty minutes or less, it's free!
If you think you're up for the 72-Ounce Steak Challenge, here's what you'll have to consume in an hour or less: two celery sticks, two carrot sticks, two olives, two dill pickles, one regular salad, ten french fries or a baked potato, one slice of bread, and every morsel of edible parts of the 72-ounce steak.
Most people will opt for a much smaller steak, like this humongous, 24-ounce bone-in ribeye.
Or perhaps you'd rather try this 40-ounce sirloin? This steak is tiny compared to the 72-ouncer, but it's still a big meal.
The juicy prime rib is so tender that it will melt in your mouth. It comes in 10 or 16-ounce cuts.
The "Full Meal Deal" includes a relish plate, potato, onion ring, bread, soup or salad, seasoning, and mushroom sauce.
Are you ready for a thick, juicy steak? Whether you go for the 72-ouncer, or a smaller sirloin, rib-eye, or t-bone, or filet mignon, Sayler's is the place to go.
Visit seven days a week! The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday Noon to 10 p.m..
Would you ever attempt to eat this much steak in an hour? Learn more about the 72-Ounce Steak Challenge on Sayler's Old Country Kitchen website, and follow the restaurant on its Facebook page.
If you're feeling like a slightly smaller meal, you might want to visit this incredible sandwich shop.
