Oklahoma may not compare to Napa Valley, but we do have several wineries and vineyards to visit where you can sip on that perfect glass of wine. Pick from many Oklahoma-made wines and enjoy beautiful vineyards right here in the Sooner state. Here are a few that made our list...not in any particular order:
1. Clauren Ridge Vineyard and Winery: Edmond
With its first vines planted in 2001, this working winery offers many different kinds of wines to choose from. Featuring a wine cave unique to Oklahoma ,this cave hosts five-course wine tasting dinners. The Italian feel in the wine-tasting room creates the perfect atmosphere while overlooking the "workings" of the winery.
2. Girls Gone Wine: Broken Bow
Started as more than just a wine tasting room by three friends, this gathering place has a great, spunky gift shop and relaxing patio. No vineyards are on the premises but all wine is fermented and produced on site.
3. Indian Creek Village Winery: Ringwood
This winery is also a bed & breakfast and event center. Plan your next special event at Indian Creek or stay a few nights in one of the 5 rooms at the B&B. The pool and deck overlook the vineyard in this peaceful getaway. Join the yearly grape-stomp festivity that takes place during harvest season.
4. Woods & Waters: Anadarko
Oklahoma's largest vineyard can be found at Woods & Waters. The vineyard contains 11 different types of grapes that produce fantastic tasting wines. Enjoy the steakhouse and bistro on-site for an enjoyable afternoon or evening dining experience. The steakhouse is open on Friday and Saturdays from 5-9 p.m. and the bistro is open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
5. Nuyaka Creek Winery: Okmulgee
Located in northeastern Oklahoma, this winery is the perfect place to try a handcrafted fruit and berry wine. You can take a tour and see the winemaking process, while admiring the elderberries and other fruit on the property.
6. Summerside Vineyards & Winery: Tuttle...coming soon
Summerside wine can be found in many local stores around Oklahoma. The winery has been sold and a brand new location is being prepared for Summerside in Tuttle, OK. Make sure to keep it on your list to visit because Summerside is an Oklahoma favorite. Their specialties are fruit and mead wines...wine made from honey.
