If your sweet tooth (or tummy) starts craving something sugary and sweet, head to the independently-owned and operated ButterSweet Cupcakes in Yukon, where you’ll be able to more than satisfy it. And while its slogan does read, "It’s Cupcake Time!", it’s also oh-so-much more goodness than just that.
In 2010, Tiffany McBride got a request from a friend to make a cake. And from there came more requests and more requests.
By 2012, those requests got to be too much for a home kitchen and zero staff to handle, so Tiffany and her husband Matt decided to open ButterSweet in Yukon. And while those cake requests were the initial reasoning for the bakery, the store soon began to see that it was cupcakes that were flying out of the display cases and soon, that became its primary business.
Tiffany learned to bake from her grandmother, whose kitchen always had some sort of cake offering available.
The décor hearkens back to ice cream parlors of yesteryear with bright colors, stripes, and lots of open space. Here, you can take your treats to go or grab one of the tables available and enjoy them there.
All baked goods - and frostings - are handmade fresh from scratch on-site in the kitchen every morning, six days a week. Nothing is ever frozen.
The Yukon location became so popular within six years that in 2018, the kitchen was renovated and expanded to make double the room for preparing, creating, and baking for the community.
There are 14 different daily flavors of cupcakes to choose from.
You can grab one of the standards, like chocolate or vanilla, or try something a bit different like mocha latte, peanut butter cup, or cookies and cream. You can also order mini cupcakes and mix and match different ones into a dozen.
Be sure to check the store’s “Flavor of the Day,” which always varies.
Like this white cinnamon cake filled with vanilla and topped with vanilla buttercream and Rice Krispies tossed in sugar and cinnamon.
The bakery's cookie choices are equal parts mouth-watering and creative, such as these colorful ones offered in unique flavors such as red velvet, caramel toffee, and apricot cinnamon, for starters.
Then of course, there are your common flavors like chocolate chip, sugar, peanut butter, and snickerdoodle, all freshly baked. And if cookies aren’t your thing, there are also plenty of other options like petit fours, cinnamon rolls, brookies, and ice cream (try the salted caramel or java chip!), bars, truffles, and cakes. There are also gluten-free and keto-friendly options available.
And speaking of cakes, you can order them with special themes.
Whether it’s a unicorn, your favorite superhero, your birthday, a special holiday, wedding, or really anything you can imagine, ButterSweet Cupcakes can make that special occasion - or just any random day of the week - even more special. Individual slices are also available on occasion.
ButterSweet Cupcakes introduced coffee to the menu in 2018, which made a great addition to the sweet treats.
Beginning at 7 a.m. every day, you can head to the coffee bar located in the bakery and grab a cup of Motion Coffee to go with your favorite cupcake. If you’re in a rush, you can even pick up curbside.
Head to ButterSweet's website to check out the hours of operation and a full menu of items available at the bakery. And if you aren’t in or around Yukon, you can visit its other locations, one on Western Avenue in Oklahoma City and another on North Pennsylvania Avenue in Edmond.
