Coffee is so much more than a drink in the United States. It's a way of life! There's no better way to start the day, and nothing refuels and reawakens you quite like a strong brew. However, Cleveland hasn't had a coffee culture quite like some regions do... not until recently, of course. Pacific Northwest coffee culture with a uniquely Mexican flair has entered the chat, and it has quickly captured the attention of locals. We're talking about Dahlia Coffee Co., the best coffee shop in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood! Just wait until you taste their drinks.
If you've never been to the Pivot Center on West 25th Street, you're in for a treat.
Like many iconic Cleveland attractions, the Pivot Center transformed an old warehouse into a place of artistic expression. Part performing arts center, part business incubator, this destination is always an incredible place to visit.
One of their newest tenants, who arrived in 2023, is Dahlia Coffee Co., and it's a small cafe you'll need to try.
Dahlia, named after the national flower of Mexico, is Cleveland's first Mexican coffee shop. It also brings a certain cultural flair to Cleveland that wasn't as prominent in the past... the owner migrated here from the Pacific Northwest, where coffee culture is much more of a lifestyle.
The owner wanted to celebrate her Mexican ancestry as well as the hard work of Latino producers and farmers.
As soon as you step in the small space, you'll take in the Mexican flair. Brightly colored walls paired with hand-painted ceramics set the scene, and specialty drinks like you've never had before wait to tempt your taste buds.
Their coffee, which can be purchased as grounds or ordered fresh in any beverage on the menu, is roasted on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
While the coffee is locally roasted, it draws in flavors from makers and growers across the globe. Ethopia, Mexico, Colombia, Peru... these destinations and more produced the coffee beans for the roasts served at Dahlia. It's amazing to think that your taste buds can travel the world in just one sip!
In each brew, flavors like dulce de leche and cinnamon add a bit of spice.
Their specialty beverages serve up flavors like you wouldn't believe. Stone-ground Mexican chocolate and mazapan just add something unique to every drink, and it's truly an experience Cleveland hasn't seen before.
As you know, coffee is best enjoyed alongside pastries, so plan to come hungry!
Like many shops, an ever-rotating selection of confections keeps things fresh. Flaky, decadent guava rolls are a staple here, however, and pan dulce is a weekend tradition.
And you never know what specialty goods are going to be offered on any given day!
From sweets to sips like Aguas Frescas, there's always something special brewing at this cool Cleveland coffee shop. Connect with them on Facebook to keep a pulse on what you can expect next!
And whatever you do, don't forget to pick up some merch to rep Dahlia Coffee Co. wherever you go.
A handful of items are offered right at the register, and even more can be purchased online. T-shirts, mugs, totes, and more can help you rep this local business. And yes... you can also purchase your own canvas copy of their iconic Frida painting!
Small but mighty, this new Cleveland coffee shop is doing big things for the local roasting scene.
The Clark-Fulton neighborhood was truly the perfect place for this cool business concept to put down roots. Locals are already buzzing about this hidden gem, and Clevelanders from all across the Metropolitan area are taking note of the unique offerings it provides.
Next time you're on West 25th, you have to budget time for a stop at this neat local business.
You can find it at 2937 W 25th St, Cleveland, OH, 44113.
Though it only recently opened, locals are already recognizing Dahlia Coffee Co. as the best coffee shop in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. Their flavors are simply unmatched!
Want to get a dose of Cleveland history during your visit? Swing by Monroe Street Cemetery just around the corner. Its earliest internments may have been around 1818, making it one of the oldest burial grounds in the entire city.
