You might be surprised to find that Ohio is home to several train-themed restaurants. (Be sure to check out this list and this train depot restaurant.) There's one locomotive-themed restaurant every true Ohioan needs to visit at least once, however. Buckeye Express Diner in Bellville, Ohio is a hidden gem to those that don't know about it and a frequent stop for locals.
Here's why you need to visit at least once—and why you'll likely visit more than once:
If you take exit 165 off of Interstate 71, you'll find this iconic not-your-average diner.
Buckeye Express Diner is located at 810 State Route 97 W, Bellville, OH 44813.
Inside, the rail car is decked out in scarlet and gray. When you arrive, you'll know without a doubt that you've entered Buckeye territory.
(Note: Michigan fans must park across the street.)
If you're up for it, there's even some caboose seating.
You can visit Buckeye Express Diner daily from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
At the ordering station, you'll find a friendly face to help you with the menu.
Be sure to ask about the special of the day, as it's always changing—but always delicious.
On the menu, you'll find all the diner classics. The burgers here are exceptional, but you can also get some Lake Erie perch, a corn beef rueben, a chicken ranch wrap and more.
