If something has been around since The Prohibition, you know it has to be good, right? The Old Mohawk Restaurant in Columbus is no exception. What was once an old speakeasy is now a longstanding restaurant that serves delicious German and American cuisine in central Ohio. Known as a classic in the Buckeye State, The Old Mohawk is more than worthy of your dining bucket list.
Here's why you'll want to visit:
Since 1933, The Old Mohawk has been known for its exceptional food and German cuisine. You'll find it tucked away in German Village.
If you've yet to try German food, this is a great place to start.
The restaurant used to be called Elk’s Tavern. Rumor has it, the building operated as a speakeasy during The Prohibition but quickly became a widely known restaurant after its repeal.
Much of the rustic atmosphere and Old World decor are preserved. Dining here is a unique experience you won't soon forget.
Today, you'll find a full timeline of the restaurant's history on the back of the menu. Despite changing owners and multiple names, the restaurant never lost its reputation for exceptional food and spirits.
The restaurant has been called The Old Mohawk since 1977. Over the years, it's received renovations and expanded.
On the menu, you'll find everything from German classics to quesadillas. Surprisingly, every variety of food here is delicious, a feat not every restaurant can boast.
