While Ohio certainly has its share of beautiful restaurants, we also love to bring you lists of those that aren't quite as good-looking. And, as we've pointed out, some of the most unassuming hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Ohio serve up the best food! Here's one little spot that doesn't look very impressive on the outside, but it offers some absolutely delicious seafood. You're going to love eating at New Sandusky Fish Company in Ohio.
Editor's Note: Since the time of publication, Sandusky Fish Company has closed.
You'll find New Sandusky Fish Company at 235 E. Shoreline Drive in Sandusky.
It's right on the shores of Lake Erie.
There's no indoor dining here - just an order counter and a few benches to sit on while you wait for your order.
Planning some picnics in Ohio? The food from New Sandusky Fish Company will take your outdoor lunch to the next level.
Outside, you'll find some picnic tables and a great view of the lake.
This might not be fancy, but it sure feels like mighty fine dining!
The old-school menu board is pretty straightforward. While this place sells burgers and dogs along with its fish sandwiches and platters, it would be a shame to miss out on the super-fresh Lake Erie Perch.
The fish is fresh-caught right here in Lake Erie, and cooked right away. You'll never get a frozen piece of fish here. This a the half-pound of perch, fried up to perfection.
The most popular menu item is the Lake Erie Perch Sandwich. Absolutely delicious! The crispy fried perch isn't super greasy - it's just mild and tender with a nice crunch. Don't be tempted to use too much tartar sauce - this delicate fish is delicious all by itself.
Visit New Sandusky Fish Company Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. They're open from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
