Okay, hear me out on this — High & Low Winery + Bistro is right off a busy state route, but the surrounding area is private wooded acres and farmland. In fact, it's just ten minutes away from the Medina Sunflower Farm, so while this area wades into rural suburbia territory, you'll surrounded by countryside views and charm. Views aside, it's worth a trip to this winery in Medina, Ohio for the libations and decadent meals. It's part bistro, part vineyard, and all vibes, so it's well worth a little road trip from Cleveland!
Sitting on fourth-generation family land, High & Low Winery + Bistro is perfectly poised to charm visitors.
I'm a winery gal... I just can't get enough of local vineyards. But some, I've found, are a bit... Stuffy? Busy? You know what I mean. They feel like they take themselves too seriously, like the elevated ambiance makes the high price tag on their wines worth it.
I've been to High & Low several times, however, as its ambiance is classy without being stuffy. It's upscale but down-home, a perfectly balanced ambiance that's as laid back as the surrounding countryside.
Inside, fun decor and funky fixtures keep the vibe lighthearted.
Eye-catching prints, industrial fixtures, and metallic elements make this place delightfully country chic. From the outside, the winery feels a bit like a chalet, but the interior is modern with a pop of fun.
And the space at High & Low Winery + Bistro isn't huge, so it's an intimate place to catch up with friends.
If you like the vibe after your first visit, you might consider hosting an event at the winery. Private spaces upstairs and outside provide an additional layer of solitude that you and your guests will appreciate.
On warm summer and autumn days, however, nothing beats a meal on the patio.
In the summer, live music is a fun feature on the patio. However, there are several other events that you can look forward to! From music trivia nights to book club, there are several free events that add some extra oomph to your schedule.
You'll love overlooking their small vineyard while you sip on wines made with local grapes or fruit from more exotic locales.
Their wine menu is a journey through local and distant lands, offering something for every palate. Whether you like super sweet wines like Catawba or dry and decadent wines like Chardonnay, there's something waiting to delight your taste buds.
Personally, my favorite wine here is A Mother-In-Law Who Takes Your Side.
This dry oaked Chardonnay is a symphony of flavor, and the name is chuckle-worthy. In fact, all the wines on the menu have fun names, which pairs perfectly with the upscale but laidback ambiance.
However, there's much to try on their wine menu, so you might opt for a flight.
Wine flights come to your table in adorable tin lunchboxes, all of which have a distinct theme. From musicians to media, it's always fun to see what comes out! Ask your server for recommendations if you'd prefer a sweeter or drier flight. I like to do a white wine flight if I'm nibbling on charcuterie and a red wine flight if I'm having a rich entree like pasta.
Of course, the bistro portion of the business is a huge draw, so make sure you come hungry!
The bistro menu at High & Low is surprisingly expansive for such an intimate place. Pizzas, flatbreads, handhelds, soups, apps, and more await visitors. Some options, like the prosciutto, goat cheese, mozzarella, and fig spread flatbread, are absolutely unique! But if you're a less adventurous diner, you'll still feel right at home with options like pepperoni pizza and beef ravioli.
While it's easy to overeat here, you'll want to save room for dessert.
From the chocolate mousse bomb to tiramisu, a little bit of sweetness is the cherry on top of this experience. Don't be afraid to grab a dessert to-go, too!
With great countryside vibes, delicious foods, and decadent wines, it's no wonder locals love heading down to this winery in Medina, Ohio.
Look for the winery at 588 Medina Rd, Medina, OH, 44256.
