One of my favorite ways to start the morning is with a cup of locally-brewed coffee in hand. There's just nothing like starting the day with a fresh brew that was made with love... but the experience can be topped, of course. Have you ever had a crepe with your coffee?! Let me tell you something — it's pure decadence dancing across your taste buds. The best place for crepes in Cleveland is an unsuspecting little storefront on Madison Avenue in Lakewood. And Brewella's Coffee, Crêpes & Collectibles has a vibe like no other... in fact, it might just have the necessary ingredients to become your new favorite coffee shop near Cleveland.
Blink and you might miss Brewella's Coffee, Crêpes & Collectibles on Madison Avenue in Lakewood.
Petite, chic, and deliciously welcoming, Brewella's serves up the ambiance you never knew you needed. It opened in 2018, but it has remained a closely guarded secret by those in-the-know.
As soon as you approach the cute cafe in Lakewood, you'll be greeted by a glimpse of its bold decor.
The atmosphere here is styled around "Brewella," a fictional persona who's like everyone's dream grandma. The "matriarch with a mug," their website touts. Brewella's cafe is a welcoming space filled to the brim with love and aromatic enticements, and it invites you to stay for a spell.
The Brewella's menu is largely anchored by an array of coffee offerings, and each is served up with a picturesque flair.
From the Cafe au Lait to Oat Cappuccino, each drink is lovingly prepared. You can select from a variety of year-round flavor options to further customize your drink. The best part? The syrups are made in-house, so they're even better than the ones you might find in a big box store.
Of course, the real draw here is the crepes.
Choose from sweet or savory options... whatever you're in the mood for! Personally, I'm a fan of the classic Lemon Sugar crepe or the decadent French Toast crepe.
Brewella's has two crepe burners, so if they're busy, you might have a little wait for your crepes.
This is one of those classic cafes where you can really kick back and get comfortable while you wait. Crepes take roughly five minutes to prepare, so if you come at a crowded time, a bit of waiting is natural. The staff will, however, give you a heads up if the wait is likely to be longer than 10 or 15 minutes. If it is... honestly, that's not even a problem! Just grab a comfy seat and take in the ambiance.
The decor here is one of the huge draws for visitors.
I love when local businesses fill their walls. It feels like every visit has the potential to highlight something you hadn't noticed before! At Brewella's, there's much to look at. I'm a huge fan of the vintage mirrors!
And their seasonal decor is top-notch.
Clevelanders love stopping in around Christmas, as these guys don't hold back with their decorating. Speaking of seasonal, you'll want to check out their seasonal menu.
Seasonal offerings, like the Rose Gold Latte and Ooey Gooey Chocolate Cheesecake around Valentine's Day, keep things feeling fresh and exciting.
While the majority of the menu is a year-round mainstay, the seasonal refreshments amp up their offerings. To keep a pulse on these, you might consider following Brewella's on Facebook.
Since 2018, coffee and crepe-loving Clevelanders have cherished Brewella's in Lakewood.
Though it's still early in its career, this cozy coffee shop has the fixins' to become a long-standing local landmark. Stop in to see what all the buzz is about!
You just might find your new favorite hangout in Lakewood at this unsuspecting storefront.
