The famous Dakota Drug in Stanley, North Dakota has been serving a special treat for years, known as the Whirla-Whip. It's essentially a special type of ice cream with practically unlimited options on what you can mix in. You get to be the creator and choose what you want in it, which can range from the usual flavors and candy to mix in or go as far as bacon bits and dill pickles. Yep, you heard that right - you can mix those into your Whirla-Whip! Stop by and see what combinations you can make and you'll see why this place has been loved by locals for years.

Nichole's Fine Pastry is by far one of the best pastry shops in North Dakota and they serve one specific dessert that you don't want to miss. Other than their full cafe menu including salads, sandwiches, and more, they have the most tasty, sweet desserts you'll ever try. One in particular is shown above - that decadent chocolate tower. Also known as a chocolate feuillantine cake, it'll melt in your mouth and it has the most amazing taste.

5. Widman's - Grand Forks

Widman's is famous for their unique desserts that usually consist of things covered in chocolate, including some of the more unusual options like olives. But there is nothing they are more famous for than being the creators of chocolate covered potato chips, or as they are called here "chippers." These tasty little treats are the perfect combination of salty and sweet. They are known worldwide now, but they all started right here in North Dakota at this candy shop.
