If there's any food that's just about as American as, say, apple pie (sshh, roll with it), it's a good old-fashioned barbecue dinner. Nobody does good bee-bee-Q quite as well as we do, and here in North Dakota, we pride ourselves on being masters of this ancient art. Enter a relatively new, totally unassuming little joint in Williston where you might just find the best BBQ in North Dakota: it's called Pit 105, and it's about to be your new favorite restaurant in North Dakota... at least when it comes to barbecued delights.
Pit 105 hasn't been around for a long time, though since it's opened, we've had a good time.
There's nothing on the menu that isn't delicious, and it's no wonder why this amazing little hole-in-the-wall became the tour-de-force it is nowadays.
The overall vibe is modern but still somehow rustic, and it fits very well with the "flavor" of the place.
If you've never been, and you were to look it up, you'd notice one thing right off the bat: the reviews for Pit 105 are off the hook, with rave review after rave review mentioning things like the brisket (which is to die for) or the ribs (which slough off the bone in the most delicious of ways).
Everything from the main events to the sides are perfectly prepared.
It's got all the hallmarks of great barbecue: excellent, rich, smoky flavor combined with an elegant sweetness you won't find anywhere else.
If you're a fan of a good brew with your 'cue, you're in luck, because Pit 105 also prides itself in being the perfect neighborhood bar.
Get you a nice, cold beer and piping hot pork ribs that are falling off the bone every time you try and pick one up. Oooh, or maybe a big, delicious brisket sandwich. Or... maybe something else.
Honestly, it's kind of hard to decide.
It's not our fault that there's nothing even remotely regrettable on the menu. Pit 105 does the ancient art of BBQ right, and we personally cannot get enough.
Oh, and you'll want to try really, really hard to save room for some of the amazing corn bread, too.
...though, of course, we can't judge you for saving all the room in your belly for the main event. It IS kind of a big deal.
