You might have to go a little out of your way to visit this charming restaurant in North Dakota, but it is more than worth it. Along with being adorable inside and out, it has great food and a super cool shop you won't find at any other restaurant in the state. Indulge in some authentic eats and enjoy the cafe with it; you'll be glad you took the drive out there. Here's why:
Out in the small town of Fairfield, North Dakota (population 120) is a tiny cafe on the side of the road that you don't want to pass by.
The Four Corners Cafe may be small, but its welcoming atmosphere and charming, farm-like look are more than inviting and comfortable.
What makes the Four Corners Cafe more than just a small-town cafe is its deep Ukrainian roots - something you can see all throughout the restaurant and even browse through in the store.
The cafe stocks many unique Ukrainian handmade goods such as sweaters, jewelry, books, and beautifully crafted trinkets.
These come in all the way from Ukraine to this tiny little corner of the world that shares much of its heritage with that country.
Ukrainian merchandise isn't the only thing they have that is authentic. The Four Corners Cafe is known for its incredible perogies, a Ukrainian food they make every week that's truly delicious. Get them with a side of sausage and you'll be more than satisfied.
Along with things like perogies, they also make knoephla and other North Dakota heritage favorites as well as a regular menu of all the homestyle classics. Burgers, chicken, fish - you name it.
They also make legendary desserts such as freshly baked pie...
... and a to-die-for carrot cake. You'll want to keep coming back to see what they have fresh from the oven for dessert every day.
Don't forget the North Dakota staple, caramel rolls! They make those, too - fresh and ooey-gooey good. If this doesn't convince you to go, nothing will.
The Four Corners Cafe is located at 2000 Highway 85 SW, Fairfield, ND 58627.
What is your favorite ethnic food? Almost half of North Dakotans descended from German ancestry, so it's no surprise that German food is very popular here. Here's a fantastic restaurant where you can get some.
