When it comes to dining out, location is key. When you want to be in the middle of everything, it's no problem to find a wonderful spot to dine in town. But for those times when you want to wander, finding a restaurant that's in the middle of nowhere can be a bit of a challenge. Look no further! Straightaway Cafe on the outskirts of the tiny and charming town of Black Mountain is the place to go!
Located six miles southeast of Black Mountain, Straightaway Cafe may actually seem a million miles from everything.
The log cabin structure is located on the beautiful and winding NC-9 and it has a very spacious outdoor deck for dining in the wilderness when the weather suits being outdoors.
But the eatery also has indoor dining where you can warm up with a cup of soup, and a hot meal.
A rotating seasonal menu includes such favorites as burgers (made your way), fish and chips, a veggie stir fry, chicken tenders and more.
You can even get some brunch items on select Sundays.
During the pandemic, the eatery is complying with state mandates to seat at 50% of capacity, and is requiring timed reservations for indoor seating during the cold weather months.
You can make a reservation here. All outdoor seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
As far as hidden gems go, Straightaway Cafe is the primo location to be. Have you dined here yet?
You'll find Straightaway Cafe just six miles southeast of Black Mountain and only 28 miles east of Asheville.
