The farm-to-table Bones Jones Burgers & Butchery in Morganton, North Carolina, is a welcome must-stop restaurant in the Lake James area. With a "Friend of the farmer, buy local," motto, the community has indeed embraced this one-year-old restaurant for its excellent food and support. And the best part — the owner "Bones Jones" effervescently produces a Facebook Live video every morning on the restaurant's Facebook page announcing the lunch and dinner specials sometimes from his farm, which is worth a follow. If you haven't been there to eat; pack your bags and prepare for a delicious road trip.
Bones Jones Burgers & Butchery is an outstanding place to eat outside.
The staff is building an oak bar rail around the porch and you can play pickleball in the on site courts to work up an appetite.
The interior is just as beautiful as the exterior, and that's not even mentioning the food.
Can you tackle a steak bigger than your head? There's only one way to find out!
Start with a refreshing loaded bloody Mary.
The menu changes with daily specials so there's always something new and exciting to enjoy when you visit.
How about an order of fried Brussels sprouts with sweet Thai chili sauce as an appetizer?
The menu is full of unique flavors like this, ready to satisfy even the most unusual craving.
Or go with a classic favorite of oak-smoked, flash-fried wings in traditional or boneless with your choice of barbecue or hot sauce.
The hardest part is choosing between the two incredible sauces! They're house made of course.
We like the hearty Bones' Burger, a big hit with 8 ounces of local beef, applewood-smoked bacon, pepper jack and cheddar, crispy onion straws, grilled jalapenos, lettuce, and barbecue sauce.
This is not for the faint of heart, or the small of hand. We're not quite sure how you take a bite out of this, but I'm sure it's delicious!
If you want to get really fancy, because you deserve it, try the surf-and-turf special when it is offered with collards and a salt-crusted baked potato.
Other side options are available. Bring all your family and friends, everyone will find something to love on the extensive menu.
If you didn't make room for dessert take one home, because just like the meat and produce, these come from local bakers.
Or have your cake and eat it too by eating dessert at the restaurant AND taking one home to indulge in later in the week.
