A humble start to success in North Carolina is the story of Southern Supreme Fruitcake & More. This Bear Creek business won the tastebuds of folks all over the country from a little Christmas sale. Today the owners feature multiple delicious treats handcrafted in this small town.
From its humble roots in a garage, this company has grown into a 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility.
More than 30 years ago, the Scott family began selling the delicious Nutty Fruitcake at a Christmas show in Raleigh.
Little did the family know this culinary delight was delectable enough to greatly impact the future business.
But by the end of that Christmas show, people were returning to purchase more and more cakes.
Today, fruitcake is sold all year round along with Fruitcake Cookies filled with the same ingredients packed into the famous fruitcake!
From that day the family continued to build a successful store and mail-order business.
In addition to fruitcake, the selections include nuts, candy, chocolate, jelly, mustard/relish/pickles, baked goods, gifts, and beverages.
We love the Maple Crispy Peanuts, which are large and home-grown.
Simmered with a blend of maple flavoring and sugar, they are toasted to a sweet crunchy goodness that can cause a mean craving.
Other fan favorites include the Bear Creek Critters and Turtles loaded with chocolate, caramel, and roasted pecans.
The critters are miniature versions of the turtles with special packaging available for gift-giving.
From Roasted Red Pepper Relish, Cranberry Relish, and sweet garlic dill pickles, the canned goods are also impressive.
The spiced peaches are an excellent accompaniment to baked ham and they look pretty on the plate.
In addition to the online store, the showroom is open all year.
Group tours are available to check out the operations and sample the scrumptious products. To book a tour, call 1-877-815-0922.
