1. La Botana, Winston-Salem

Looks can be deceiving and this hidden gem in Winston-Salem definitely goes unnoticed at times. Everything is cooked authentically and true to the flavors of each region of Mexico. Start with the sopes and wash it down with a strong margarita.

2. Papas and Beer, Asheville

Everything is amazing at Papas and Beer. The burritos are the way to go but if you're looking for something lighter go for the Mexico City Tacos.

3. El Camino Real, Greensboro

This little hole-in-the-wall packs big flavor. If you're looking for street tacos, a delicious burrito texano, or even chorizo sope...it's all going to be delicious!

4. Tower 7, Wrightsville Beach

If you're on vacation or live in Wrightsville you'll find amazing tex-mex a block from the ocean. You must try the fish tacos caught fresh.

5. Three Amigos, Charlotte

Three Amigos is located in a small strip mall right in Plaza Midwood. You'll find the best tacos, enchiladas, burritos and chimichangas in Charlotte. Don't forget an extra large margarita to wash it all down.

6. Taqueria El Toro, Raleigh

This restaurant is the hidden gem of Raleigh. With delicious food, a tantalizing toppings bar, and tacos piled with all the right toppings, you'll crave this place long after you've licked the plate clean.

7. Limones, Asheville

Limones is a classic Mexican restaurant with an upscale twist. Try favorites like lobster nachos, a blood orange margarita, or tequila lime beef tacos. It's a favorite of Asheville locals and visitors alike.

8. Crafted, Greensboro

Not so much traditional 'Mexican' but a taco place you MUST try is Crafted. They have traditional favorites like chicken, steak, etc. but the 'specialty tacos' are where it's at.
