Here in Buffalo, we're more than used to visiting attractions that were once something else, just take Hotel Henry for example - former insane asylum turned luxury hotel! If you take interest in experiencing attractions that have a fascinating history and an intriguing set of bones, then you're going to love where we're taking you today. Following the Niagara River just north of us in the Queen City, see why you'll be excited to dine along the riverfront once you learn about this unique restaurant.
Only 30 minutes north of us, in the historic town of Lewiston, you can discover a charming riverfront restaurant.
The Silo was originally a silo that was used to store coal, become a popular place for boats traveling along the river to stop and fuel up at.
Deliciously preserving an important piece of Lewiston's local history, after years of abandonment The Silo restaurant opened in 1998.
Today people from all over Western New York and Buffalo alike step inside this historic silo to grab a bite to eat.
Operating during New York's warmer months, The Silo features a beautiful wrap-around dining area that gives you panoramic views of the river.
Don't worry though, if all the tables "inside" are taken - you'll be able to find plenty of tables that are situated out front and have an equally amazing view of the water.
The Silo's food menu features all the summertime classics like hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, fish and even local favorites like Beef on Weck.
Out of everything on their menu, the most famous item is their Haystack - a toasted hoagie roll with mayo, filled with seasoned Rib-eye steak, topped off with melted mozzarella and toasted hashbrowns!
When you're done deciding between feasting on ordering The Original (smaller) Haystack or The Footlong Haystack, there's another area of The Silo that you must check out.
Impossible to miss, greeting you at The Silo is a historic caboose turned ice cream stand.
Featuring more ice cream flavors than you'll know what to do with and their epic and the highly sought after Sand Dock Sundae that serves up nearly a gallon of ice cream, topped with whipped cream, crushed Oreos, gummy worms, and a cherry!
Now open for the season and ready to quench your hunger, make the quick drive up along the Niagara River to The Silo restaurant to enjoy an amazing waterfront dining experience.
