There's no shortage of adorable little cafes in small town New York: it's one of the things we're known for. Hensonville is a teeny hamlet about an hour south of Albany. Its population is just under 300 people, so you'd be forgiven for not expecting much from their food scene. But this little place is hiding big taste and friendly faces at a small cafe on the main strip called Nana Gail's.
This quaint little spot is the epitome of small town Americana. Hensonville isn't far from Windham Mountain, so Nana Gail's is popular both with residents and ski-loving tourists.
Dining inside feels like you're in your Nana's house! The staff are super-friendly and you're likely to meet the owners themselves. The spot is so beloved by locals that it's not unusual for the staff to know all the diners' names.
They've got an adorable outdoor dining area on their front porch. It's great for sipping coffee while you people watch!
With portions this huge, you might not be hungry for a while. Nana Gail's Cafe serves breakfast and lunch. Their omelettes are legendary and they have a variety of flavors to choose from.
There's also soups, burritos, and sandwiches.
All the food is super-fresh. Their breakfast potatoes are amazing. This is a great little spot to pick up brunch.
Their chicken soup is incredible and so much better than what you'd get from a can! The chicken is all hand-sliced and the quality is evident with each bite.
