Once all of the summer tourists leave the small towns surrounding the shores of Lake George, you'll find that things get much quieter up this way as winter takes over. Some hotels, shops, and restaurants may close come the fall, but that doesn't mean there still isn't plenty of ways to stay busy up in the Adirondack Mountains during the off-season. Transforming a favorite resort into something even cooler, see why you'll want to set aside a weekend to grab a drink from New York's massive ice bar.
Travel up along Route 9 and before you know it you'll start seeing signs for The Sagamore Resort - located on its own island on Lake George.
Something that's become an annual tradition, once January rolls around the outdoor space of The Sagamore starts to put together its icy one-of-a-kind wonderland.
Crafted together by many hard-working hands, after hours of work The Sagamore is able to present its very own Glacier Ice Bar.
Made up of 18,000 pounds of crystal clear ice, you'll be in awe of the beautiful little winter palace that's right before your eyes at this resort.
At the massive ice bar, visitors will be able to order winter-themed drinks that'll help to warm you up.
Or you can attempt to warm up by grabbing a seat at one of the benches and tables that are made out of ice and feature their own fuzzy seat covers for you to sit on.
Happening for two weekends in 2019, mark your calendars because you'll only have January 25th & 26th and February 1st & 2nd to experience The Sagamore's Glacier Ice Bar before it all melts away!
It’s always exciting to see what Mother Nature can do up in the Adirondack Mountains during the wintertime, but The Sagamore gives us the chance to be excited over something that’s both man-made and a natural wonder. Open rain, snow, or shine, after grabbing drinks at the Glacier Ice Bar visitors will also be able to warm up next to the fire at Caldwell’s Lounge or even get some appetizers and Italian dishes from La Bella Vita.
