If you live in New York City or even just visit for a few days now and then, then you know that there are moments while in the city when you just want to get away from it all. New York is one of the best cities on the entire planet, but all the tall buildings and hustle-and-bustle can be a bit overwhelming at times.
To remedy this, it's always wise to try to spend a little time in nature if you can, even in the midst of it all. A visit to a park or to the waterfront around the city is just what you need, and a cocktail with some friends in a relaxing setting certainly wouldn't hurt either.
That's where Grand Banks comes in. This bar-on-a-boat, docked at Pier 25 on the Hudson River, offers a pleasant setting on the water that you and your friends will just love. Read on to learn more.
Grand Banks is an oyster bar onboard a repurposed boat called the Sherman Zwicker. This 142' schooner was built in 1942 as a fishing vessel and sailed the seas fishing for cod until 1968.
After that, the Sherman Zwicker served as an educational vessel. Later, this boat was docked at the Maine Maritime Museum for 20 years; thousands of people had the opportunity to visit it there and to learn about the history of ocean fishing by sail.
Today, this ship is enjoying yet another life as a lively-yet-relaxing restaurant and bar. It's docked at Pier 25 in Tribeca.

It's also a perfect spot for you to relax with a glass or bottle of wine after a long day or week.

There's lots of seating on board.
However, Grand Banks can also get crowded on some days, too. It's wise to make a reservation in advance.

Also, the lobster rolls were included on a list of the Best Lobster Rolls in NYC by The Infatuation.
This spot has won a number of awards, in fact. CNN Travel included it on a list of the World's Best Waterfront Restaurants. The Observer called it the Best Oyster Bar in NYC. New York Magazine gave Grand Banks the title of Best Waterfront Restaurant in NYC.
