Though The Full Shilling Irish pub was opened in 1999, the origins of its construction date back far later. The entire interior of the New York City bar, which is over 100 years old, was shipped all the way from a pub in Belfast, Ireland! This old-world charm is not on short supply at The Full Shilling, making it the best historic Irish pub in New York City. You are going to want to learn more about this place, so keep reading below.
The Full Shilling is located in the Financial District of Manhattan, between Wall Street and Pine Street.
The Full Shilling’s backbar and counter are over 100 years old and feature a “snug,” which is a private meeting room located at the far end of the bar. It’s always full.
Since it is so close to Wall Street, the bar does a large lunch service, mostly to those who work in the Financial District. After work, it doesn’t slow down, either.
The Full Shilling features all of the classic beers you would come to expect from an Irish pub—Guinness, Lionshead IPA—plus American favorites and even some local brews, like Brooklyn Seasonal. There is also a selection of wines and a curated cocktail menu.
The bar not only features great drinks, but also a menu of traditional food, made even more authentic by the environment in which it is served.
Some of their most famous dishes include a Guinness and beef stew, bangers and mash, and a shepherds pie. Of course, you can also get a great fish and chips at this establishment.
To get to the pub, all you have to do is get off at the Wall Street subway stop of either the 2, 3, 4, or 5 trains.
For taste of Ireland without leaving New York City, it's a must to check out The Full Shilling in the Financial District. While you are in The Big Apple, why not check out one of the largest department stores in the world? And if you need a place to stay in the Financial District, we recommend the Holiday Inn Wall Street.
