There are dozens of places to grab a po’boy in the city, but few with as much history as this one. Generations of New Orleanians have eaten here, tourists make sure to stop by when they’re visiting, and it’s been featured on several television shows. It’s no wonder this family run restaurant has been going strong for close to a century, and shows no signs of slowing down.
Nestled Uptown at the corner of Annunciation and Tchoupitoulas lies one of the best places to grab a po’boy in the city.
That iconic yellow building houses the New Orleans staple, Domilise’s.
Domilise’s was founded in 1918 by Peter and Sophie Domilise as a neighborhood bar.
A few short years later, Sophie began making sandwiches for the river front workers. When Peter died, his son Sam and his wife, Dorothy "Miss Dot" took over. The business remains a family run institution, 100 years later.

This no-frills restaurant is jam packed with flavor. There’s usually a line, but trust us—it’s worth the wait!
Known for their po’boys, you simply have to try one.
Their menu is short, but you don’t need many options when you’re known for your po’boys. Oyster, shrimp, roast beef and sausage on that well-known, delicious Leidenheimer bread.
Domilise’s is open six days a week, closed on Sundays.
Monday-Friday: 10am-6:30pm and Saturdays 10:30-7pm.
