Ripe, juicy berries are one of the best things about summertime, and they're even better when they're fresh-picked. There's a pretty little farm right here in New Mexico that lets you pick your own blackberries and raspberries all summer long, and you're going to want to get in on the fun.
For a fun day of berry picking, head to Heidi's Raspberry Farm in Corrales. This beautiful place is located on the Rio Grande River and has some stunning views.
Sure, you could pick up a pint of berries at the grocery store, but why would you do that when you can spend some quality time with loved ones, and then enjoy fresh berries right off the bush?
The blackberries are the first to ripen at the farm. In 2019, the opening day for picking is July 6th, so make plans now to visit.
These big, juicy berries are perfect for making jam or syrup...or just eating right out of your hand!
Once you've gotten your fill of the tasty blackberries, you'll be eagerly awaiting the red raspberries.
They're usually ripe around the middle of July, and will last throughout the summer.
Just think of all the ways in which you can enjoy your fresh raspberries. From desserts to fruit salad to jam, these little gems are absolutely divine. All of Heidi's berries are certified organic.

Enjoy berry picking every Saturday morning from 9 a.m to noon. Bring plenty of sunscreen, water, and your kids! Parking costs $5 per car, and the berries are $6 per pint.
Heidi's also makes the most wonderful raspberry jams you've ever tasted. Choose from regular raspberry, raspberry red chile, raspberry ginger, raspberry lavender, or raspberry red chile ginger.
The jams include only a few ingredients: the berries, chiles, ginger, and lavender, as well as pure cane sugar and pectin. They're available at grocery stores all over the state, as well as on Heidi's Raspberry Farm's website.
Love Heidi's delicious berries but don't have time to visit the farm? Stop by your local farmers market. Heidi's has booths at the Santa Fe Farmers Market, Corrales Growers Market, Albuquerque Downtown Market, and Los Ranchos Growers Market.
