1. Golden Crown Bakery (Albuquerque)
The baked goods at this panaderia are the stuff of legend. This Duke City institution crafts fruit empanadas so good they’ll make you weep, biscochitos that you’ll be addicted to year round, and perfect conchas. The bakery is located at 1103 Mountain Road NW in Albuquerque.
2. Le Rendez-vous Café and French Pastry (Las Cruces)
Whenever you discover that a pastry chef is French, you know you’re in for a treat. This café takes that expectation and exceeds it, especially when it comes to bread and pastries. Le Rendez-vous is located at 2701 W Picacho Avenue, Suite 1, in Las Cruces.
3. Cornerstone Bakery and Café (Ruidoso)
Muffins, cookies, and pie. This place does it all and does it well. The pecan sandies and the chile cheddar bread are standouts at Cornerstone Bakery. This restaurant is located at 1712 Sudderth Drive in Ruidoso.
4. Clafoutis (Santa Fe)
This authentic French bakery offers light-as-air meringues, macaroons that you’ll simultaneously want to savor and inhale, and of course clafoutis. To break it down, everything in the bakery case is magnifique! Clafoutis recently moved to 333 West Cordova Road in Santa Fe.
5. Bearclaw Bakery and Café (Taos)
Whether you lean towards the savory side of the menu with a cheddar chile scone, or keep things sweet with a tart or galette, the baked goods here are sure to delight. Bearclaw Bakery and Café is located at 228 A Paseo del Pueblo Norte, Suite A, in Taos.
6. The Bakery at Mountainair (Mountainair)
Although this bakery is off the beaten path, it’s totally worth a detour for the pastries and freshly baked bread. Head to 217 E Broadway in Mountainair and see for yourself what the fuss is about.
7. Diane’s Restaurant and Bakery (Silver City)
The scent of bread lingers outside the doorway of this bakery, luring you inside. There are usually free samples to help you decide between the various loaves. Be sure to pick up some cookies as well. Diane’s is located at 601 N Bullard Street in Silver City.
8. Indulgence Bakery and Café (Las Cruces)
This bakery may only have been open for a few months, but the cream puffs are already a hit. If you want to be equally popular, bring one of their cakes or pies to the next potluck you attend. A strawberry margarita cake is perfect this time of year. Indulgence Bakery is located at 2265 S. Main Street in Las Cruces.
9. Charlie’s Bakery and Café (Las Vegas)
Charlie’s is another spot known for delicious – and huge – cream puffs. In fact, all of the sweet treats here are on a large scale. That’s definitely a good thing when it comes to the donuts because once you take a bite, you won’t want to stop. This restaurant is located at 713 Douglas Avenue in Las Vegas.
10. Adobe Café and Bakery (Reserve)
From freshly-made fudge to wondrously sticky cinnamon rolls, this remote bakery promises goodies that’ll linger in your memory for a long time to come. The Adobe Café and Bakery is located just off US-180 in Reserve.
11. Roma Bakery and Deli (Albuquerque)
If you find cookies the ultimate in comfort food, then this bakery is the spot for you, with its cheerfully colored Fiesta cookies and classic Mexican wedding cookies. There’s also a broad array of fruit empanadas in flavors such as blueberry and pineapple. Roma Bakery and Deli is located at 501 Roma Avenue NW in Albuquerque.
12. Sweet Lily Bakery (Santa Fe)
The folks at Sweet Lily have really mastered piecrust and cupcakes. Other popular offerings include the muffins and savory biscuits. The bakery is located at 229 A Johnson Street in Santa Fe.
13. Burro Street Bakery (Cloudcroft)
New Mexico may not be an obvious destination for king cakes but the ones here are finger lickin’ good. During the rest of the year, try the cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and fritters. Burro Street Bakery is located at 505 Burro Avenue in Cloudcroft.
14. Bakery and Café @ Angel Fire (Angel Fire)
This bakery has been dishing up all-day breakfast along with sweet treats such as donuts and cinnamon rolls dripping with glaze for 25 years now. You’ll find it at 3420 Mountain View Boulevard in Angel Fire.
15. Passion Pie Café (Truth or Consequences)
In addition to its indulgent waffles, Passion Pie Café is known for croissants, pies, and pastries. It is located at 406 Main Street in Truth or Consequences.
16. Lovin Oven Bakery (Espanola)
Lovin Oven doesn’t look like much from the outside but, if you give it a chance, you’ll love the donuts and biscochitos hiding inside. The bakery is located at 107 N Riverside Drive in Espanola.

17. Glenn's Bakery (Gallup)
Although Glenn’s is now also a restaurant, it began as a bakery back in 1972. The tempting displays here showcase fritters, pies, and other sweet treats, however, sugar-free pastries are also available. Make a pit stop at 901 W Historic Highway 66 in Gallup.
