There are so many amazing local businesses and the best way to support them is to become a customer at one. Small family-run restaurants, shops, and bakeries can be found in just about every town in America. If you happen to love baked goods, there's one tiny family-run bakery in New Mexico you have to try! Located in Taos, Wild Leaven Bakery makes and sells artisan bread, pastries, and more, and it's easily one of our favorite bakeries in the state.
Wild Leaven Bakery is a local bakery in Taos known for its artisan bread, pastries, croissants, scones, and more. Locals and tourists alike can't get enough of this place!
This small family-owned and operated bakery's specialty is its long-fermentation sourdough bread. But aside from that, everything is made with organic and locally-sourced ingredients. You can truly taste the difference when you purchase baked goods from a place like this.
Wild Leaven Bakery also prioritizes the use of heirloom and heritage grains procured from Northern New Mexico as well as Southern Colorado. A variety of bread is baked fresh daily.
Most loaves of bread here are sourdough, however, the bakery has many creative takes on this style of bread. Aside from the original sourdough, you can try the quinoa and sunflower sourdough, roasted walnut sourdough, or chile 'n' cheese sourdough among others.
While the bread is absolutely delicious so are the scones, croissants, and other pastries like the pecan chili bar and Panetone. Why not bring home a box of these treats to share with friends and family?
You can also grab lunch while you're here. Try a salad and a soup of the day for the perfect healthy meal!
