I'm always on the lookout for date ideas and fun things to do with friends. There's always dinner and a movie, but I like to switch things up sometimes. I recently came across an awesome event...but it was totally sold out! Luckily, it was such a hit that future events were scheduled, but it fills up fast.
Montclair Bread Company is a community owned bakery and cafe.
They have got the most amazing artisan bread, along with made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The menu changes with the seasons.

They've also got amazing donuts and, on select nights, you can make your own!
And it's not just donuts that you can DIY...there's pizza, too!
Here's how it works...
You'll stretch your own pizza dough, add seasonally inspired toppings, and they'll bake it fresh in their ovens for you. Then, they'll provide you with your own box of six plain doughnuts, along with an assortment of delicious glazes, toppings, & fillings - you provide the creativity! Enjoy there, or box them up and take them home. The event is 13+ and you're welcome to BYOB.
The next date for this event is April 9th at 6 p.m., if you can't make that, there's another DIY Donut & Pizza Night on April 23rd. For more details or to buy tickets, visit the event page here. Find Montclair Bread Company at 113 Walnut Street, Montclair. To discover other outrageously good donuts in New Jersey, click here.

Down in Edgewater, you'll find a row of restaurants set back from the shoreline. But if you're looking for the "best cafes near me," one of these restaurants will have you feeling as if you've entered another world. Welcome to Cafe Archetypus, a cave cafe in New Jersey.
The dimly lit dining area flickers by candlelight, and the walls are made to look like stone. Perhaps even more enchanting than the main dining area are the booths in the back.
Here, you'll find charming alcove booths that are perfect for a romantic date (or double date). You'll also find hanging vines, cave art, and an abundance of contours.
This themed café in New Jersey doesn't feel like any ordinary restaurant, and it's not.
The food is good. You'll find an eclectic mix of café fare, including French bread pizzas, quesadillas, salad bowls, burgers, and eastern-inspired platters (think gyros) and hummus.
But the desserts are out of this world. Their fresh-baked brownie sundaes are spectacular but it only gets more extravagant. There are deluxe desserts like Raspberry Sin and Dark Desire (both chocolate-based) and cheesecakes, including raspberry fudge brownie, Oreo fudge, and salted caramel.
Then, there are the unique signature sundaes, including the "Dharma" (which features green tea and vanilla ice cream, azuki beans, and honey) and the "Diabla" (hazelnut and coffee ice cream, warm cocoa cake, chipotle fudge, and cinnamon). Yum!
