New Jersey is home to plenty of unique dining venues. One of our particular favorites in the state, though, is The Barn Original in Wyckoff. Once upon a time, it was a dairy barn, and now it's a charming and cozy restaurant.
Constructed in 1779 as a dairy farm, the structure was converted to a speakeasy in 1929. The bar is actually built from an old farm wagon and to this day stands on its original wheels. Clearly, The Barn Original likes to honor its past, which is what makes it such an amazing restaurant (and the food's pretty good, too).
The Barn Original was built all the way back in 1779 as a dairy barn, but today is just a really excellent, charming restaurant.
The vibe inside is warm, relaxed, and eclectic.
It really retains its barn roots, which adds to The Barn Original's appeal.
People regularly carve their initials into the tables here, and have done so for decades. It adds to the nostalgia of the place.
Oh, and of course the food is incredible.
You'll get standard bar fare and drinks at The Barn Original.
But don't worry — there are also healthier options and a mix of more unique new American-type dishes.
Our mouth is watering just looking at this grilled portobello over fresh greens.
And the dessert is amazing too. The chocolate lava cake is a highlight.
As The Barn Original says on its website, it hopes you "enjoy the best of the past and create new traditions and memories at The Barn Original."
