Being surrounded by big cities means New Jersey occasionally gets overlooked, but our dining scene is among the best in the United States. Last April, Saveur Magazine named New Jersey "The Most Edible State In America," and I have to agree. I love highlighting our unique restaurants, and here's another for you to enjoy.
Fish Urban Dining is a newer restaurant in Ridgewood that you absolutely can't miss.
Visually, you can't miss it. The massive restaurant is housed in the former location of the First National Bank at 54 East Ridgewood Avenue. Originally an Asbury Park eatery, Fish Urban Dining moved to Downtown Ridgewood in 2015.
As you may have guessed by its name, seafood is a specialty.
You'll find seafood staples like lobster, oysters, clams, calamari and a sizable selection of fish. There are also more modern menu options like lobster mac & cheese and shrimp spring rolls.
The menu is diverse and you'll find delectable daily specials like Burger & A Beer Wednesdays.
$12 will get you a mouthwatering burger, beer and fries. Try the Jersey Burger with pork roll, fried egg and cheese. You'll also find beef sliders (pictured), Asian-style nachos, delicious desserts and a full bar.
They've also got one of the best brunches around.
Served on Sundays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., an all day brunch is coming soon. You'll find a mix of breakfast and lunch options including eggs benedict, bacon and lobster omelettes, pancakes, french toast, lobster cobb salad and a crab cake BLT (pictured).
The interior is exquisite.
You'll find soaring ceilings, stunning chandeliers and two levels of dining. The main dining area is located at street level, and there is also a second floor mezzanine (pictured). The massive bar area is beautiful and private parties can be accommodated in the Executive Boardroom with a private bathroom, reception area, 62" flat screen and seating for up to 36 guests.
Perhaps most special of all, you have the opportunity to dine in the vault.
The vault is minimalistic to retain its authentic feel and seats up to 36 guests for a sit-down dinner or up to 20 guests for conference-style seating.
