New Jersey is known as the "Diner Capital of the World" and we don’t disappoint. There are approximately 525 diners in our state, and every one is somebody’s favorite. Is it possible to label one diner as "the best?" Perhaps, but it would certainly be a point of contention. However, there’s one thing I think we can all agree on…this rural diner is something special.
The Shamong Diner is located in the heart of the Pine Barrens.
You'll find yourself just minutes from Wharton State Forest but miles from civilization. Sure, there is life to be found, but this is pretty much as rural as New Jersey gets. Shamong is a small, predominantly residential town. There are only a handful of businesses including Valenzano Winery, Indian Mills Pizza, and Shamong Diner & Restaurant. What you'll find more than anything is farmland, but that doesn't mean Shamong doesn't do restaurants right.
It may not seem fancy but it has heart!
A community gathering place, the diner is a family-owned business that serves up local produce seasonally, when available. You'll find a wide range of vegetarian options, hometown favorites, and seasonal soft-serve ice cream. They provide their customers with "great food, great service, and great smiles."
The Shamong Diner was chosen as the best diner in Burlington County!
This accolade was awarded by NJ.com, and the diner beat out local staples including Mastoris and the Vincentown Diner. What makes it special? We do love the diverse menu...
You'll find a diverse mix of cuisines, vegetarian & vegan options, and great deals.
Whatever you're craving, you'll find it here. They've got pizza, pasta, chicken fingers, cheddar cheese poppers, broccoli bites, scrambled tofu, tuna wraps, gyros, crab melts and more...you'll definitely want to try the cheesesteak wrap. When it comes to specials, there are deals for seniors and $10 lunches that include an entree, soup or salad, fries AND dessert.
Top top it all off, patrons are welcome to BYOB and there's a wonderful little shop to enjoy after your meal.
Relax with a glass of wine (or beer) and be sure to stop at the shop before you go. A charming general store you'll find everything from gifts, to snacks, to essentials like charcoal and cleaning products. We love the selection of locally made goods! You never know what you'll find.
The Shamong Diner is open daily – 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You can find it at 7 Willow Grove Road (on 206), Shamong. What’s your favorite diner in New Jersey? To discover more of the best, click here.
