New Jersey is known for some pretty fantastic food creations, only limited by one's imagination and appetite. Clinton Station Diner has the biggest burgers around (50+ pounds) and the Rutgers area has made headlines for its "fat sandwiches" stuffed with mozzarella sticks and so much more to savor, but what about your sweet tooth?
Coney Waffle has you covered.
Located at 803 Ocean Avenue in Belmar, Coney Waffle, Ice Cream and Sweet Shop is a dessert lover's dream. The brand new (opened this spring) boardwalk area attraction has already garnered a massive fan following. Here's why:
"SideShow Shakes"
These insane, gravity-defying milkshakes are loaded with nearly every sort of sweet you can imagine. From cotton candy to cookies, marshmallows and sour gummies - dreams really do come true. Pictured are the the Wonder Wheel Big Show and Tornado Shake.
These shakes are so out-of-this-world amazing that internationally known website, Buzzfeed, featured them in a video that currently has nearly 25,000,000 views:
So many more goodies!
The milkshakes aren't the only thing drawing crowds, the entire selection is utterly unbelievable. Your jaw will drop (literally and figuratively) when you order one of their wild waffle sandwiches (they even have a waffle made with brownie batter) or indescribable ice cream cones (Liberty Cone and King Slayer pictured). Other options include cannoli waffles, extreme root beer floats and spectacular cereal treats, among others. You can even customize your own creations.
While they're open year-round, I can't imagine a better shore destination over Labor Day Weekend. There's also a second location in Ocean Grove (4 N End Boardwalk), if that's closer. Whichever location you choose, and whatever time you decide to go - be prepared to have your taste buds blown away. Bring a friend, these are perfect for sharing. If you're not going to be on the beach, check out one of these other great ice cream shops in New Jersey.
