Princeton is one of my favorite towns in New Jersey, and this famous college town has built itself a reputation as the top spot for small-batch food in the state. You can find a beloved farmer's market, as well as countless independent businesses selling anything you could want. That extends to what might be the best bakery in New Jersey, LilliPies Bakery in a shopping strip less than two miles from the gates to Princeton University. What sets this bakery apart? Their unique single-serving pies, solving the dilemma we all face when we walk into a bakery - everything looks so good, so what do we order? At this charming Princeton newcomer, the answer might just be - one of everything, please!

Tucked away from the Princeton city center, Lillipies Bakery has brought people from all around to sample its innovative menu of fresh-baked treats. The menu here changes seasonally, so visiting is a regular tradition for many.
The extensive menu here is just part of the appeal - the friendly service and neighborhood vibe go a long way to helping spread the word about this unique bakery.
The bakery has an impressive selection of savory and breakfast treats, including sandwiches and a delicious selection of seasonal flatbreads. It's easy to make a meal here - but save room for dessert.
The signature at Lillipies are their individual single-serving pies. These treats, a little bigger than a muffin, come in a fantastic seasonal variety and offer you the chance to try several pie flavors at every visit instead of committing to a full-size version.
Lillipies makes great use of seasonal produce, so you'll be able to taste some of the best farm-fresh pies in the state without having to share it - but if you want to share it, get enough for the whole crew!
Have you tried the pies at LilliPies Bakery? What are your favorites, and what's your pick for the best bakery in New Jersey? Let us know in the comments section! You can see the current menu on the LilliPies website, and check out the LilliPies Facebook page for the latest specials as they're announced! Nothing goes better with pie than ice cream, so make sure to check out the acclaimed and innovative The Bent Spoon before you leave Princeton. Or if you don't feel like leaving, book a room at the historic Nassau Inn, one of the area's best boutique hotels.
The Best Apple Cider Donuts in New Jersey Come From This Remote Farm
Windy Brow Farms is a small-town New Jersey farm that's about to kick off its fall season - which will include You-Pick apples and the best apple cider donuts in New Jersey.
I look forward to the fall all year, and it's just about here. While some people hope summer never end, I long for the cool air, fall foliage, and delicious treats that come with autumn. And when it finally does arrive, that's the perfect time to go exploring off the beaten path. New Jersey's small-town farms have several active seasons, and fall is usually when they get rolling with pumpkins, hayrides - and of course, apples! One perfect example of this is Windy Brow Farms, a charming Fredon Township farm known for its homemade ice cream - it went viral when it introduced the world to pork roll ice cream. It's worth a visit all year round - but especially now, as their You-Pick apple season kicks off. This farm will have many varieties of apples ripe for taking home, and their on-site bakery will be serving up delicious fall treats. They include the best apple cider donuts in New Jersey, and the season kicks off on August 31st, so it's the perfect time to plan a trip out to Windy Brow Farms!

Located in one of the most pastoral areas of New Jersey, Windy Brow Farms is a laid-back family farm specializing in you-pick fruit - and apple season is about to begin, bringing with it delicious surprises.
PYO season begins for apples on the last day of August and will continue as long as Mother Nature will allow. The specialties at the far, are McIntosh, Gala, Golden Delicious, Cortland, and Greening apples. There is no admission fee - you only pay for the bag of apples you pick.
But not all the apples wind up in the bags of visitors - some wind up heading over to the bakery, where they're used to craft delicious fall treats including apple tarts, apple breads - and of course, apple cider donuts, our favorite fall treats.
Sure, you can find apple cider donuts in a lot of places, including at your local grocery store - but these are something special. Perfectly soft and crumbly, and bursting with apple flavor. I look forward to donuts like these all year.
But the fun doesn't need to stop with apple-picking and donuts - Windy Brow Farms also has a full restaurant, known as the Pizza Pergola. It's a great place to stop in on a nice day for a meal with a beautiful orchard backdrop.
The pizzas are all informed by fresh ingredients and feature fresh produce from the farm and surrounding partners. The summer menu featured specialties like peach and sweet corn pizza. What will fall bring? We can't wait to find out.
