Nothing is more satisfying on a warm, sunny day (or a cold, cloudy day too!) than ice cream. No matter if it’s just plain chocolate or vanilla or something fancier like cinnamon roll or maple walnut. New Hampshire is home to a ton of ice cream shops, with many of its towns and cities offering up more than one. Kingston, located in Rockingham County, with a population of a little over 6,000, is one of those very places. Feast your eyes (and taste buds!) on these two gems.
Located just minutes from Kingston’s historic district, you’ll find What’s The Scoop.
Opened in 2014, this family-owned small ice cream shop offers up a big menu with many items containing locally-sourced ingredients.
There are more than 60 flavors of ice cream, sherbert, frozen yogurt, and sorbet to choose from, such as Coffee Kahlua Brownie, Dinosaur Crunch, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Death by Chocolate, with updates made regularly. If you have trouble making your choice, ask for a free sample.
These delicious treats are all provided by some of the finest creameries in all of New England.
You can also order frappes, banana splits, traditional sundaes, or brownie sundaes. Or grab a pint of your favorite flavor to take home with you!
While there’s no inside seating here, you are welcome to use the picnic tables outside.
Over at Memories Ice Cream on Exeter Road, you can grab a cold treat that was homemade right on site with ingredients from local farms.
Opened in 1993, you can grab a variety of items (both hot and cold!) as well as half-gallons, pints, and quarts.
Among its over 45 flavors, Memories has all the traditional ones, with both dairy-free and vegan options also available. If you are looking for something a little bolder, try Butter Pecan, Holy Cow, Coconut Chip, or Cotton Candy.
This stand is part of a farm setting, as evidenced by this potential ice cream thief!
And it’s not just ice scream here. You can also order custom ice cream cakes, coffee drinks, ice cream pops, and even made-to-order ice cream sandwiches.
Stay for a bit and enjoy your treats in one of the rocking chairs or at a farm bench.
