The small city of Nashua, New Hampshire boasts some first-rate ice cream. There are three top-shelf ice cream businesses in town, and each presents a different approach to the favorite frozen treat. Which will you choose?
First, maybe you want a high-quality, time-tested ice cream stand, something traditional. Family-owned Hayward’s Homemade Ice Cream has been handing out ice cream cones in Nashua since 1940. It’s regarded as one of the best ice cream stands in New Hampshire.
You’ll find your favorite flavors, but why not try something unusual? Appalachian Trail is espresso ice cream with pieces of Heath bar and fudge. Kangamangus is vanilla with chocolate-covered pretzels and swirls of caramel. You can’t go wrong with any choice, or the steamed hot dogs!
Want to try something a little different with your ice cream? Check out Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream. This chain operates a location in Nashua and is known for its unique process of creating frozen treats.
Choose a cream for your base, a flavor, and some mix-ins. Then watch as they blast the concoction with liquid nitrogen. You get a taste of science, and of ice cream!
Not in the mood for anything fancy? The Big 1 has you covered. This cash-only ice cream stand makes 56 flavors of ice cream, and you can eat them on one of the picnic benches by the parking lot.
The low-key ice cream stand also offers parfaits, sundaes, and chili dogs. Keep in mind that The Big 1 is only open seasonally.
