Sure, there are plenty of places to get delicious treats across the state of New Hampshire. But isn't everything a little better when it feels like a secret? The next time you're driving through the state, keep your eyes peeled for our favorite place to stop for a rest. You can eat, you can fuel up and you can take a break to eat all the delicious treats you'll find here.
You might first be compelled to pull off the highway to fill up at the Irving Pumps you see from the road.
But inside it's the fresh baked treats that will compel you to find a reason for stopping each and every time.
Since 1971, The Common Man family has been delighting New Hampshirites with homecooked food in a cozy atmosphere and lots of different locations.
But everything changed for owners Alex Ray when the State of New Hampshire announced the search for folks to renovate of the state welcome centers on both sides of Interstate 93 in Hookset.
Willing to take a chance, he and his business partner submitted a proposal and the rest is history. You can enjoy The Common Man Roadside Restaurant, but it's the treats that we love most.
Each and every one of the Village Café and Bakery desserts are made fresh every day in their on-site kitchen.
And in 2018 they opened their new market just outside of the main building. Here you can get for fresh donuts throughout the day, as well as cider and coffee.
Move over Dunkin'!
These aren't treats baked and packaged elsewhere - you'll find them all here just like a bakery you'd find on Main Street in your favorite little town.
One of our favorites? The Snow Tire! It features Common Man ice cream between two of huge, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
There isn't a lot you won't love about stopping here. Except that it's likely to push your arrival time back significantly!
The Common Man Roadside is easily accessible to those going south or going north. Common Man Roadside North can be found at 530 West River Rd., Hooksett. Common Man Roadside South can be found at 25 Springer Rd., Hooksett. To learn more about it, click here. And, check them out on Facebook.
You know what else we love? This old-time Polish bakery. It's the last of its kind and it's full of love and treats!
