It's not every day that you have the opportunity to take a trip back in time. Well, unless you happen to be in Dover at this one special arcade bar! With its walls lined in vintage games and a very well-stocked bar, you'll wonder why anyone ever let the glory days of video games change!
Tokens Taproom in Dover is nostalgic, fun and worth a visit if you miss the days of meeting your pals at a local arcade to catch up and have some friendly competition!
The bar was the first of its kind in New Hampshire and was brought to life arcade game connoisseur, Josh Hynes. This is one business owner who must know how to have a good time!
Inside you'll find a mix of classic arcade games, pinball machines, and even Skee-ball.
Each was collected over the years by Hynes who drove all over the northeast to find them. They were then brought back to life after some refurbishing.
If you're into a more modern version of nostalgia you'll love that they even have Nintendo 64 games, including Dr. Mario, Mario Party, GoldenEye, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and Diddy Kong Racing.
Even the decorations will remind you of the old days.
Who isn't immediately transported back to their childhood basement seeing this?
Come ready for games, but also come hungry! They have a great menu filled with things like paninis, hot dogs, and snacks.
And, of course, it's not called a taproom for nothing. Be sure to come thirsty so you can try their draft beer menu.
While this is a bar, it's also kid-friendly on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as long as they have a legal guardian accompanying them. So, bring your kids and show them what life was like before social media!
Tokens Taproom is open:
- Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight
- Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
- Sunday from 4 to 11 p.m.
Learn more by checking out their website or visit them on Facebook. You can give them a call on 603-343-2879.
This isn't the only example of a unique place to drink in the Granite State. Check out this winter only bar at Stonehurst Manor in New Hampshire. It's made entirely of ice and it's astounding!
