The history of the Bloody Mary dates back to 1921 in a Paris bar. Exactly which Paris bar is up for debate. But, it almost doesn't matter. What's most important is knowing that this drink is what brunch is all about. But don't worry, you can order one anytime you want. And for the best, check out these spots!
1. The Dover Brickhouse, Dover
Don't get stressed about what to order here, you're going to want to go straight to the Big Ass Bloody. It's got 22 ounces of vodka infused with pepper. If you can't choose something from the menu, you can probably rely on this drink to be your lunch. Though, always drink responsibly, okay? They're located at: 2 Orchard St., Dover / 603-749-3838.
2. Tumbledown Cafe, Sanbornville
This farm to table spot is known for its fresh food and great menu combinations, but we're attracted to the skewer that comes loaded with shrimp if you choose. Heck, get it with bacon and live a little! Find them at: 21 Meadow St., Sanbornville / 603-522-8500.
3. The Old Salt, Hampton
The Old Salt just might be the best place to share a fun time with friends...while drinking a super spicy Bloody Mary. Of course, you can choose to get it less spicy. It's all up to you here! Visit them at: 490 Lafayette Rd., Hampton / 603-926-8322.
4. Thirsty Moose Taphouse, Dover / Portsmouth
If $3 Bloody Marys make your heart sing, you're going to be belting out an Opera if you head to Thirsty Moose on Sundays. This might not be the most eloquent way to describe these perfect drinks, but the Bloodies speak for themselves, right? Visit them at: 21 Congress St, Portsmouth / 603-427-8645.
5. Epoch Restaurant, Exeter
Head to the Exeter Inn for one of the heartiest Bloody Marys in the state. At their brunch they often have special versions, but we love the classic just the same. Visit them at: 90 Front St, Exeter / 603-778-3762.
6. The Draft, Concord
Head here for a cocktail any time of the week because they're great. But, if you're partial to Bloody Marys you're going to want to check them out on the weekend when they're cheap! Visit them at: 67 S Main St., Concord / 603-227-1175.
7. The Foundry Restaurant, Manchester
Sunday brunch is the best time to get a Bloody Mary at The Foundry. You might not find it on the regular menu, but if you order one you can be sure it'll be done just right. Find them at: 50 Commercial St., Manchester / 603-836-1925.
8. The Friendly Toast, Portsmouth
When one bloody mary isn't enough, head to this spot to order their famous flight of them! Get it for brunch, get it for lunch and get it for dinner. You deserve it! They're located at: 113 Congress St., Portsmouth / 603-430-2154.
