We've gathered a few of our favorites here, but remember that there are plenty more to try. So, make your way to these and then tell us what we missed so can can do some of our own exploration in 2020.
1. The Red Parka Steakhouse & Pub, Glen
A BBQ sandwich complete with a huge onion ring on top? Check! This place is great for folks who want a unique meal that satisfies. While they have a large menu, their steaks are what they might be best known for. They're hand-cut and cooked to perfection! Learn more about what you can expect to find here!
2. Martingale Wharf Restaurant, Portsmouth
You'll want to wait for warm weather for this top choice. This casual waterfront restaurant here has been a local institution for what feels like forever. The views are incredible and the seafood is scrumptious. Enjoy a meal, just cocktails, or head here in the off-season for a great brunch! Check out 9 more outdoor spots we love here!
3. Mr. Mac's, Manchester and Portsmouth
There are over 21 varieties of mac n' cheese at this delicious spot! And there are two locations, so if you're craving cheesy goodness in either Manchester or Portsmouth they've got you covered. Their menu is huge, but they also have mix and match ingredients making the combinations endless. Check 'em out here!
4. Waterhouse Restaurant, Peterborough
You can get New Hampshire water views at places that aren't on the ocean and this beautiful restaurant is proof. Located right next to the Nubanusit Brook, the glass windows allow for some of the most serene scenes you'll find from any dining table. And, of course, the food is pretty top notch! Check out more here!
5. Smoke Shack Southern BBQ, Boscawen
If you love great BBQ, but also crave a great scoop of ice cream you'll want to head here. They've got an ice cream shop attached! Check out more of our favorite BBQ spots here!
6. The Dive, Laconia
One of the most unique places to have a few drinks is also one of the most beautifully set. You'll have to wait until the summer for this one, but when it's open live it up aboard a totally floating bar with snacks and special cocktails. Check it out here!
7. Rainbow Grille & Tavern, Pittsburg
If you're open to traveling off-the-beaten-path, this is the spot for you. The setting is utterly fantastic and the meals are hearty and filling. We love the roaring fireplace in the winter and the lakeside location in the summer and fall. Learn more about it here!
8. The Christmas Farm Inn & Spa, Jackson
Sure, this place is extra-special in the winter but the good news is that the Christmas spirit is intact all year long. So, can't make it before April? No problem! The Mistletoe Pub offers a traditional New England dinner, complete with sides and some of the best desserts we’ve had. The food and the vibes won't let you down. Check out more about it here!
9. Moat Mountain Smoke House, North Conway
This is another cozy-as-can-be spot when the weather is cold. It's also a great place for a hunger that only plates full of meat can satisfy! We love the food, but we especially appreciate how dedicated they are to supporting local farms and businesses. That's why almost everything on the menu is made in-house. You can learn more about them here!
10. Walter's Basin Restaurant & Basshole Lounge, Holderness
We love this place for the menu, but the views are nothing to scoff at. Located at the banks of Little Squam Lake, this is a lovely breath of fresh air in the summer. We covered it in the fall because the changing foliage is incredible, but it's truly wonderful at any time of year. Check out more here!
