Eating out can be fun but also challenging when children are involved. Simply having a kids' menu does not necessarily mean the eatery is kid-friendly restaurant. Here are eight of the best kid-friendly restaurants across the Silver State you simply must try!
1. America, Las Vegas
This unique kid-friendly restaurant is located inside the New York, New York Hotel & Casino at 3790 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
A giant 3-D map of the continental United States is mounted on the ceiling so kids (and adults) can get a history lesson while they eat. Don't worry, however, Alaska and Hawaii are mounted on the walls.
The menu features quintessential American menu items such as the club sandwich (pictured), cheeseburgers, New York steaks, breakfast fare, and much more. Portions are large and service is terrific. Oh, and don't forget the donuts.
2. Roxy's Diner, Las Vegas
Roxy's Diner is located in the Stratosphere Tower at 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
This classic 1950s diner features food you would expect in a themed restaurant such as this, and its menu is cleverly tucked inside a vintage album cover.
From hamburgers, french fries, and milkshakes to nostalgic blue plate specials and everything in between, kids of all ages will love this place.
3. sup, Reno
This unique, scratch-made, and kid-friendly sandwiches, soups, and salads eatery is located at 669 S. Virginia Street in midtown Reno.
Owners Christian and Kasey Christensen have over 40 years of combined restaurant experience. sup evolved from their weekly "Soup Sunday" get-together for friends at their house.
Opened in 2007, sup serves delicious and innovative soups, sandwiches, and salads made from the freshest ingredients. Oh, and don't forget the scrumptious homemade cookies which are served with every dish!
4. Grandma Hattie's Family Restaurant, Carson City
Located at 2811 S. Carson Street, Grandma Hattie's is, well, like a visit to grandma's.
From hearty breakfasts including make-your-own-omelets to burgers, meatloaf, salads, milkshakes, and everything in between, this kid-friendly diner is a favorite of locals and visitors. Portions are large, prices are reasonable, and service is friendly.
Down-home family fare is the order of the day, or every day, for that matter. And the kiddos love the desserts-with extra whipped cream, of course.
5. Pinocchio's, Sparks
How can you hear the word "Pinocchio" and not think kid-friendly? Well, you can't. Pinocchio's is located at 4820 Vista Blvd. This local, family-owned restaurant has another location in Reno at 5995 S. Virginia Street.
Despite being a "bar and grill," Pinocchio's atmosphere is very family-friendly and kids enjoy playing "I Spy" with the thousands of wall and ceiling decorations.
From salads to soups to seafood to burgers to pizzas to steaks and beyond, the food is fantastic. Pinocchio's also has a nice children's menu featuring kid favorites like mac and cheese, grilled cheese, chicken strips, and pasta.
6. Babystacks Cafe, Henderson
This delightful breakfast and brunch eatery is located at 550 N. Stephanie Street, Suite D. Babystacks has another location in Las Vegas at 2400 N. Buffalo Drive, #145.
This cute cafe is usually busy and has a distinct Hawaiian vibe. Many of the ingredients have a Hawaiian flare as well, like the chocolate macadamia pancakes and loco moco.
In addition to regular breakfast fare, Babystacks is known for its ridiculous kid- and adult-friendly selection of pancakes: lemon ricotta, chocolate, red velvet, rocky road, orange creamsicle, s'mores, pb & jelly, German chocolate, bananas Foster (pictured), and many more.
7. Cell Block Steakhouse, Ely
Located in the Jailhouse Casino at 211 5th Street, the Cell Block Steakhouse lets guests dine in jail cells.
Each "booth" is set up like a jail cell with historical jail-themed items throughout.
Delicious steaks are the featured items; however, there are other entrees with chicken, seafood, and pork. While there is no kids' menu per se, the portions are large so sharing is definitely an option. And if the kids misbehave, you can always threaten to feed them bread and water (seriously, this is a menu item) or leave them locked up.
8. Rainforest Cafe, Las Vegas
Located inside the MGM Grand at 3717 Las Vegas Blvd. South, the Rainforest Cafe is a great kid-friendly place.
In addition to animatronic animals in a rainforest setting, other decor certainly captures the kids' attention.
Rainforest Cafe offers a huge variety of items from quesadillas (pictured) to sandwiches to pasta to seafood to burgers and beyond; however, its children's menu is wonderful. Kids have the option of choosing a truly kid-friendly entree, side, and drink.
