Who would've thought that some of American's best Italian food was hiding out in this little Reno restaurant? Casale's Halfway Club has been serving up some of the state's tastiest pasta dishes for over 80 years and there's a good reason it's stuck around for so long. The owners of Casale's know what they are doing when it comes to Italian cuisine. After all, it's in their blood. For a taste of the state's very best and oldest Italian, you'll want to plan a stop at Casale's. Here's why.
Located in Reno, Casale's Halfway Club isn't just the oldest Italian joint in the state. It's the oldest family-owned and operated restaurant in Nevada—period. Serving the Reno-Sparks area for over 80 years, this place is a true Nevada gem.
The quaint restaurant isn't just known for their delicious Italian dishes. It's all about family here at Casale's and that's what keeps people coming back from more. The moment you step through the doors, you can rest assured that you'll be treated like family.
John and Elvira Casale were Italian natives who settled down in Reno during the 1920s. In the late 1930s they would open up a small produce stand which would eventually evolve into the small restaurant that you see today. Casale's has stayed a family venture for over eight decades and is currently run by the couple's daughter, 91-year old "Mama" Inez.
Casale's may have first started out as a small fruit stand, but today you can order up classic dishes like Mama's famous ravioli, spaghetti, pizza, and more. A lot of things have stayed delightfully the same at the restaurant over the years, including the passion for flavorful and authentic Italian cuisine.
Walking into the restaurant truly feels like walking into someone's home. When you sit down to eat, it's as if you're sitting down at the family dinner table. And it tastes like it, too. The meals are all homemade with family recipes that have been passed down for generations.
The menu is simple and contains all of your Italian favorites. Of course, a popular choice is their big ol' plate of spaghetti, smothered in their famous homemade red sauce and giant meatballs.
However, their signature dish has got to be the ravioli. The ravioli itself is homemade and hand-pressed daily. It truly doesn't get more authentic than this!
Casale's is wonderfully quaint, perfectly quirky, and 100% all about family. Give them a visit for a taste of some of Nevada's finest and oldest Italian. You'll find them at 2501 E 4th St, Reno, NV 89512.
