A good indicator of a restaurant's quality is how long it's been around. Chances are if a restaurant has been around for decades, they're probably doing something right. This couldn't be truer when it comes to the historic Italian joint featured here. The family-owned and operated eatery has been serving up delicious, homemade Italian food for over 65 years, and they show no signs of slowing down. Eating here is like taking part in a treasured Nevada tradition, so plan a dinner date soon!
The next time you find yourself craving some authentic Italian, head straight to The Bootlegger Bistro. This longstanding eatery has been serving up delicious homemade goodness to the Las Vegas area since 1949, and they've only gotten better with age.
The owners, Maria and Al, first moved to the dry and dusty town of Las Vegas in 1943. It wasn't long until Maria's exceptional culinary skills were put to good use, and the couple decided to open their first Italian eatery.
The Bootlegger has been around for almost all of Las Vegas history. It was thriving during the time of Liberace, the Rat Pack, and Elvis, so dining here means you're experiencing a true Vegas icon. Las Vegas has changed a whole lot over the years, but this family-style eatery has stayed mostly the same.
The thing that's kept this lively restaurant going all these years is the fantastic and authentically prepared food. On the menu you'll find a variety of classic Italian dishes, such as Spaghettic Classico, Baked Penne, Ravioli, Fettuccine Alfredo, and Saltimbocca—just to name a few!
Dishes are composed from traditional recipes that were passed down to Maria from her grandfather Luigi, and they haven't changed a bit. However, they do provide gluten-free and vegan-friendly versions of their famous specialities, so there's truly something for everyone on the menu.
Lovingly referred to as "Mama Maria", the restaurant's matriarch unfortunately passed away this year on March 27. At 102 years old, she was most definitely the oldest restaurateur in Las Vegas.
The old-school atmosphere, spectacular food, and friendly company all make the Bootlegger Bistro a one-of-a-kind dining experience that every Nevadan should treat themselves to. Maria may be gone, but her incredible legacy will live on through this historic restaurant.
Bootlegger Italian Bistro is open 24 hours every day. Address: 7700 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
