Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. An Instagram ad caught my eye during a late-night scroll session and I was intrigued by the colorful compartments and versatility of the bag, which can be carried as a duffle or as a backpack (I prefer the backpack for even weight distribution and airport navigation.) Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. Finding local secret places in Nebraska is always a treat, especially if it’s something as swanky and fun as a speakeasy. Hidden down a back alley off of P Street in downtown Lincoln is a sturdy door that looks like something from a movie.
The light above will shine red or green to let you know if there is room inside. If it is red, just wait a bit for someone to leave and then you’ll be granted entry.
Once inside, you’ll find a cozy and stylish room with just a few seats.
The Other Room likes keeping the place mellow and quiet enough to have a conversation without shouting. It’s a wonderful respite from all of the noisy bars. You’ll actually be able to talk with your date at a normal volume!
The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable and will mix up fantastic cocktails that are so good that this place was nominated for a James Beard Award.
It even grows its own herbs for use in these tasty tipples.
The cocktails are as classy as they are delicious, and watching the bartenders skillfully prepare them is a fascinating part of the the enjoyment of this place.
The ambiance is so splendid because phones are required to be on silent and photos are discouraged, a limited number of people are allowed in at one time, voices are kept at a conversational volume, and no reservations are accepted, which gives everyone a fair chance to get in.
There are several collaborative events throughout the year with other local businesses, and it is a place that is all about the local community. If you want the perfect date night, come to The Other Room.
