Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. An Instagram ad caught my eye during a late-night scroll session and I was intrigued by the colorful compartments and versatility of the bag, which can be carried as a duffle or as a backpack (I prefer the backpack for even weight distribution and airport navigation.) Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. My skin feels so tight and parched during flights, and while I've been known to slap on a sheet mask at 12,000 feet, my 11 year old's mortification on a recent trip had me rethinking this strategy. This diner is modeled after the trailer-type diners that became popular in the U.S. almost 100 years ago. Don't worry, though, this diner is much newer than that.
There are 28 Penny's Diners altogether, all of which are located next to Oak Tree Inns. Although we don't usually feature chain restaurants, Penny's is the kind of place that calls for an exception.
From the moment you walk in, you know that this place is pretty special. From the black-and-white checkered motif to the ample chrome and the line of stools at the counter, it really does feel like being in an authentic diner from the past.
Whether you choose to take a seat at the counter or make yourself comfy in a booth, you'll be able to watch your food being prepared in the open kitchen. That's one of the simple joys of eating in a real diner.
This charming restaurant is open 24 hours a day and the full Penny's Diner menu is served all the time. If you get a hankering for biscuits and gravy at 9 p.m., they've got you covered.
The menu selections are anything but complicated, just the way true diner fare should be. You can never go wrong with a plate of French toast or pancakes accompanied by a side of crispy bacon.
