1. Driftwood Inn, Blair

This little restaurant in Blair is notoriously challenging to find, but it's well worth the drive. It's right on the Missouri river, so try to get a window seat for the best view. 2. Surfside Club, Omaha

The most difficult thing about eating at Surfside Club is deciding between the fried chicken and the fried catfish. Both will pretty much melt in your mouth. And of course, you'll enjoy this delectable meal with a fabulous view of the river. They're closed for the season now, but they typically reopen in April. (And yes, if you were worried, the restaurant has been completely rebuilt and recovered from the devastating flood that shut it down for a while several years ago.) 14445 N. River Drive, Omaha.

3. River City Star, Omaha

You can't get any closer to the river than actually dining on it. You'll have to wait until next spring to take a dinner cruise with River City Star, but you'll love the river view, food and fun. Make reservations now for 2017! 151 Freedom Park Road, Omaha.

4. Kahill's Steak-Fish & Chophouse

For a special occasion dinner at a truly special place, Kahill's offers romance with a view. 385 E. 4th Street, South Sioux City.

5. Pop-n-Doc's, Decatur

Pull your boat right up to the little marina and have a tasty meal at this casual little restaurant. The burgers are especially good. 3000 Hutton Drive, Decatur.

6. Heron Bay, Springfield

This little bar serves up typical bar food in a pretty, riverside setting. During warm weather, you'll love the view from the deck. 21215 S. Highway 50, Springfield.

7. Murdos Aten Resort, Crofton

Sitting right on the banks of the Missouri, this classic American restaurant serves outstanding food while you gaze out of the window at Yankton, South Dakota, just over the river. 55421 Highway 121, Crofton

8. Nebraska Barn & Grill, Gothenburg

Just a stone's throw away from the Platte, this sweet family eatery has a little something for everyone. They also have a well-stocked sports bar where you can catch a game while plowing through nachos like these. My mouth is watering already. 318 Platte River Rd, Gothenburg
