Wine and summer are bosom buddies, wouldn't you say? Best friends. Meant to be together from the beginning, one complements the other perfectly. Here in Nashville, the weather has been brutal but the sun is out and that means sweet grill outs with friends and - perhaps?- and afternoon at a local winery. We've mapped out five awesome places for you to visit this summer and into the cooler months of fall.
You can find our map + directions here!
1. City Winery
City Winery is an outlier, in that it is not actually a traditional winery (gasp!) but it does have the honor of being the only urban winery in the state. It serves as a music venue, and is great for dinner as well. There's even a combined tour between the nearby Tennessee Brew Works and City Winery.
2. Natchez Hills Winery at the Fontanel
Natchez Hills Winery itself is located in Hampshire, Tennessee, and makes for a fun day trip - but if you're not looking to leave the city? Head over to their 3,000 square foot tasting room just outside of Nashville at the Fontanel. It's open seven days a week!
3. Grinder's Switch Winery at Marathon Village
Grinder's Switch is located out in Centerville, but not unlike Natchez Hills Winery is has a Nashville satellite campus. For a small fee, you can try flights of their wines at Marathon Village, and they even offer up wine slushies! Make sure to check their schedule, though - it's a little more limited in Nashville.
4. Long Hollow Winery
Located in Goodlettsville, Long Hollow Winery is a quirky winery that offers up wine, cheese and jam tastings. Everything is sourced from Tennessee, of course, and the owners take pride in their quality work. This is a sweet experience that is sure to be bursting with southern hospitality.
5. Arrington Vineyards
Arrington Vineyards is probably the most popular of all of the wineries out in Nashville. The property boasts 16-acres of vines and a tasting lodge, alongside a sweet picnic area for you and the family. It has been open since 2007, and is open seven days a week.
6. Belle Meade Winery
The Belle Meade Plantation is renowned for its beauty and historical breadth, dating back more than 200 years. The Belle Meade Winery opened up more recently - in 2009 - and you can even tour the historic space with a complimentary group tasting. This is one experience that is truly unique.
