Puckett's is a Middle Tennessee classic, boasting restaurants from their original location in Leipers Fork all the way to downtown Music City. It's a place of comfort food and live music, playing the tune of Tennessee to tourists and locals alike. Their expansive menu boasts an array of southern comfort, and their homey atmosphere will make you comfortable bringing the kids or even heading out on a date.
That being said, the Puckett's Boathouse location stands high and strong above them all, because it twists the narrative a bit. Born out of a nautical theme and serving up seafood dishes with aplomb, you may just find a new favorite. We sure did...
From the outside, Puckett's Boathouse may just look like any other Franklin eatery. Low-key, lit up with blue highlights and boasting a concrete patio perfect for summer nights. Where's the whimsy, you may ask?
Take a step inside and feel as if you've been swept away to a tiny seaside town, complete with a Nicholas Sparks romantic narrative and seafood from heaven. Every detail is just so and en pointe. The restaurant seats up to 200 inside, so though it may look small it's actually a community haven. If you filled it up, you'd have a third of the town of Leipers Fork sitting in those seats!
And don't forget to look up! The artistry and creativity that went in to designing the restaurant is fluid and sharp. Landlocked Tennessee has never felt so fresh.
The restaurant came from homes to dredge up those sweet memories of childhood spent by the coast, on southern beaches with family. We'd say it does a pretty good job. This may not be Myrtle Beach or Gulf Shores, but it feels like it.
Interesting fact? The restaurant is located right by the Harpeth River, hence the watery theme. The building where it makes its home was once known as, "The Boat Locker," thus the continuation of its legacy stands strong in the community.
Their expansive menu runs the seafood gamut, although there are plenty of options for those of you who aren't fans of consuming the sea. Take this andouille po' boy, for example. It's a lot more New Orleans than Hilton Head and it's bound to fill you up!
You can visit for yourself at 98 E. Main St. in Franklin, and we'd recommend sitting at the bar. You really can't turn it town, once you see the gleaming interior.
Downtown Franklin has been listed by Travel + Leisure as one of the most romantic towns in America, and Puckett's Boathouse keeps it very solidly on everyone's mind. We'd recommend for a sweet date night out on the town, when the weather is a bit warmer. Then you can walk the darling streets of downtown historic Franklin after dinner - it's magical.
