Fort Louise is Nashville's newest culinary accomplishment, located in an old bungalow on the very edge of East Nashville. You may be used to us writing about wide open spaces and minimalist decor, but this is a space that exudes a sense of peace and comfort. You won't walk inside and feel awkward about how "cool" you are - this is where you come to laugh and gossip and be fed. Bring your friends, come by yourself, it doesn't matter. Just come and be at peace, even if just for a meal.
Locally owned and impeccably designed, owners Jessica Bower and Greg Biggers tapped the Nashville-based talent of chef Jonathan Hawks for their daily cooked fare. With a lunch and dinner menu that pushes tasteful boundaries, Nashville couldn't have found a more dynamic team.
Based in a charming, renovated bungalow, Fort Louise pushes beyond the "trendy" vibe of Nashville and goes straight to homey. This is a comfortable place, you don't have to put on a face or dress to the nines. East Nashville has been in need of a sweet place for a while now, and this light-infused space located by the wildly popular Mitchell's Deli fits the bill.
The Gifford Grilled Cheese is a must-try on their menu, and it is prepared with Gifford's bacon, honey white bread (there's also a gluten-free option!), fresh tomato and tangy cheddar. Yum!
Take a look at their BBQ Salmon Sandwich - it comes bursting with cucumber and pepper slaw. Combined with its elegant presentation, this is a neat experience for locals and tourists alike.
There's a great patio when the weather is good, and their brunch is served from 10am to 3pm. Although the summer has been muggy and hot, come autumn this may be your go-to spot. You can date all day long!
Fort Louise is a restaurant that celebrates its home city and the classic taste of Americana. You can make reservations online if you're so inclined, or you can just pitch up with some friends ready for something good to eat and drink. We have our eye on the Old Pal, made with Belle Meade bourbon, vermouth rosso and campari. Sounds like Friday night plans!
Fort Louise is located in Riverside Village, just across from the wildly popular Dose & Dram Bar, and next door to Village Pub. You can find it at 1304 McGavock Pike.
You can visit Fort Louise from Tuesday through Sunday, from 11am to 3pm for lunch on weekdays, and 5pm to 10pm for dinner service. They open earlier on the weekends (10am!), so keep that in mind as you plan a brunch date!
If you're looking for a date NIGHT, per say, check out Rudy's Jazz Room in downtown Nashville. It's a true New Orleanian experience in the heart of Tennessee!
