There’s more to a restaurant experience than good food. While a well-cooked meal is certainly important, sometimes it’s the atmosphere that really makes the visit special. When you get the urge to enjoy something a little unique, give one of these Montana restaurants a try.

1. 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar, Haugan

This bar and restaurant houses the largest collection of its kind. The silver dollar collection started in 1952, and people from all over the world have their names inscribed. In addition to the tasty grub and unique silver dollar display, you’ll find a small motel and a huge gift shop with fun and bizarre Montana souvenirs.

2. The Sip ‘n Dip Lounge, Great Falls

Technically this is a bar and lounge, but they do serve food, and kids are allowed until 9 PM. A tiki bar in Great Falls, Montana is too amazing not to make this list. Watch the mermaids splash and swim while enjoying tropical beverages and listening to live piano music. The Sip ‘n Dip has received national attention, and celebrities like Daryl Hannah (the mermaid from the movie Splash) have made an appearance.

3. Cateye Cafe, Bozeman

This cat-themed breakfast and lunch restaurant serves homemade food in a quirky setting. The feline theme is played up with menu items such as the Bird Catcher Salad and The Alley Cat breakfast. The most unique thing about this place is the funny list of rules, which include "Ask for water if you want it" and "If you’re smoking in here you’d better be on fire. Expect extinguishing."

4. SakeToMe Sushi, Bigfork

Sushi in Montana? Absolutely! The Treasure State is no stranger to good sushi, and this spot is exceptionally delicious. With menu items like the Hip Tang, which is salmon crisp, sweet potato, strawberry, basil, mango and lemon aioli, and the Long Hair Hippie (with tofu, of course) you can expect a unique experience here.

5. The Fieldhouse Cafe, Billings

Everything is made from scratch at The Fieldhouse, even the ketchup. And it’s all made from local, sustainably sourced food. But what really makes this restaurant unique are the dishes themselves - they’re all works of art that are almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

6. Cowboy Bar & Supper Club, Fishtail

Want a taste of the wild, wild west? Enjoy a steak or burger at Cowboy Bar & Supper Club! From live bands to their own "Testy Fest," there’s always something going on here.

7. Wolfer’s Diner, Havre

What could be better than a 50s themed diner? A 50s themed diner that serves old-fashioned hand-dipped milkshakes, of course.

8. Charlie Russell Chew Choo, Lewistown area

From May to October, you can board a dinner train in Lewistown and enjoy a scenic trip through Central Montana. The three and a half hour journey includes a full prime rib dinner and dessert.

9. Red Lodge Cafe, Red Lodge

Red Lodge has a lot of restaurants, so deciding on a place to eat can be a challenge. But for an authentic old school Montana dining experience complete with HUGE portions and (arguably) the best pie in the area, this is the place to be.

10. The Jersey Lilly, Ingomar

The Jersey Lilly started as a bank in 1914. It officially became the Jersey Lilly in 1948, and it’s now one of the favorite tourist spots for anyone who happens to be passing through. The Jersey Lilly is full of old memorabilia, so anyone lucky enough to eat there will enjoy more than just the food.
