We can admit it -- in Montana, we're suckers for a good, hearty breakfast, especially when it's served in a cozy cafe in a small town. And that's exactly what you'll find at the Hardware Cafe in Clancy, a tiny town in Jefferson County about 12 miles south of Helena. While there's not much to the town itself, this casual eatery is a top attraction.
While the Hardware Cafe has been open for a while, it recently reopened under new ownership.
These days, it's open every day but Monday at 7 a.m. for breakfast and lunch service. On the weekends, it's open until 8 p.m. for dinner.
Chef Chris Abrego was born and raised in the Northwest, and he has worked in the restaurant industry since he turned 17.
Chris has spent years learning the ins and outs of the kitchen, and he brings his unique expertise and creative experience to the Hardware Cafe.
What are you craving for breakfast? The odds are good that you'll find it here.
From savory classics like biscuits and gravy and chicken-fried steak to creative options like the Hardware Skillet, the selection is fantastic.
Craving a sweet treat? Order from the Pancakes, French Toast & Waffle section.
The Stuffed French Toast is stuffed with huckleberry filling, fresh berries, and cream.
The Hardware Cafe also has an impressive list of omelettes.
If you don't see one you like, you can always create your own.
For those who are ready for lunch, skip the breakfast menu and order one of the Smash Burgers.
Eating something like this might take some time, but you'll definitely appreciate it.
There's certainly no shortage of fantastic breakfast spots here in Montana. But the next time your travels take you to Montana City, check out this gem.
