Montana isn't the type of place that needs to come up with quirky manmade attractions or weird experiences to attract visitors. Our national parks, mountains and outdoor adventures do a fine job of that. But there definitely are a few unique spots here you won't find anywhere else. The 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar in Haugan is one of them.
This place was once called the 10,000 Silver Dollar Bar.
Gerry and Marie Lincoln started collecting silver dollars in 1952. The store is still family-owned (in its fourth generation) and they're still collecting the currency.
There is an actual bar here, and the food is great...
... but what makes this place so amazing is the quirky onsite gift shop.
It has everything you never knew you needed.
The gift shop has everything from signature Made in Montana items (huckleberry lip balm, anyone?) to unique gifts like this.
You can fit a lot of merchandise into 5,000 square feet.
If you can pry yourself away from all the amazing novelty items, take some time to explore the collection of silver dollars.
It really is impressive.
There are even motel rooms here for weary travelers who need a place to stay.
You can even do a little gambling while you're there.
The 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar is definitely one of Montana's more unique attractions. Here are some other fun roadside stops in the Treasure State.
